[BAZIN, Gilles-Augustin] Histoire naturelle des abeilles [...]. Paris frères Guérin 1744 2 vols. in-12 : [2]-xvi-412, [2]-iv-441-[3] pp; 16 folding plates (some russeting and stains). Contemporary marbled calf, spines gilt with fleurons (corners and spines rubbed). Nice copy. First edition. Complete with 16 beautiful and detailed plates (including n° 4, 9, 10 and 11 in duplicate, according to the author's wish) showing beehives, anatomical details, swarms... Bazin (1681-1754), physician and naturalist, librarian of the Cardinal of Rohan, was a friend and collaborator of Réaumur, whose Memoirs served as a basis for the writing of his text presented in the form of a social chat between Clarice, a mother, and Eugène, representing the author.
