ARAGON, Louis Traité du style. Paris Gallimard, nrf (1928) In-12. Bradel ivory half cloth signed Delapierre, handmade paper boards in green and red tones, brown chagrin etiquette on the spine, cover and spine cons. (slightly defective). Good copy. First edition of this "virulent and pamphleteering essay" (Biro), considered to be Aragon's major contribution to surrealism. Edition of 931 copies of which 26 are reserved. Among the 796 on Lafuma-Navarre pure thread, one of the 750 for the Friends of the First Edition (n. 13). Autographed letter to Christian Bussy "this book of which "the author renounces" and so on and not only the typographical errors but which at least makes one touch the complexity of our time". This preface refers to the provocative mention printed on the first blank page: "The author renounces to join to this book the list of typographical errors it contains [...]. He only regrets that this makes the spelling and French mistakes, deliberately made in the hope of obtaining from this reader the pleasant howls which legitimize his existence, unappreciable to the reader.
