Original quality frame. 95 X 105 cm Laenen (1899-1980) is a Belgian painter/sculptor who trained at the Academy of Mechelen and at the Academy of Brussels. He creates his own universe inhabited by figures and fantastic objects projected in a dreamlike universe. He mixes abstraction and surrealism in vast peaceful landscapes. He stayed in India, Burma and Siam in 1931-1932. There he painted the landscape series "Verloren Paradijs/Le paradis perdu". The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium has 3 works by the artist in its collections.
