TBE+. 105 X125 cm Frans Smeers (1873-1960) was a talented Belgian post-impressionist/luminist painter, known for his beach views and portraits. Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels with Jean-François Portaels and Joseph Stallaert. One of the founding members of the Circle "le Sillon". Teaches from 1933 to 1946 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. Works in museums in Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, Ixelles, The Hague, etc. Several works of Smeers were included in the last exhibition organized in the museum of Ixelles (21/06 to 03/10/21).
