"Nuzhat al-hadi bi-akhbar mulk al-qarn al-hadi" by Mohammed al-Saghir al-Ifrani Morocco, late 18th-early 19th century Arabic manuscript on paper. 17 lines of text per page, in Maghribi script in black, blue, red and green ink, within red and blue fillets. Illuminated frontispiece and marginal medallion on the first page, painted in red, green, blue and gold. Binding with flap and cover in red leather with stamped and gilt decoration, decorated with a central mandorla and fleurons in the spandrels. Condition: very damaged in places as the ink has burned the paper on many pages; worm holes. Size: 20.5 x 16.5 cm The author of this manuscript is Muhammad al-Saghir al-Ifrani, also known as Mohammad al-Ifrani (born around 1080 / 1669-70 and died in 1156 / 1743-44). He was a Moroccan historian and scholar of the 17th century who wrote several works, notably on the history of Morocco, including the one proposed here: "Nozhet-el hdi bi akhbar moulouk el-Karn el-Hadi" translated into French by Octave Houdas under the title "Histoire de la dynastie saadienne au Maroc : 1511-1670".
