Description

EXCEPTIONAL CANDELABRA with three silvered bronze arms with rich vine and deer decoration. The base bears the seal of the town of Hawick as it was applied around 1890. We find here the ornamental repertoire of the grape harvest widely used by Henri Picard for his table tops. The presentation of deer is nevertheless unknown in his work but the blazon "?Sigillum Burgi Hawick" suggests that it could well be a special order probably Scottish. Attributed to the bronzier HENRI PICARD (1840-1890), work of the XIXth century. Height 65 cm - Width 46 cm (lacks the cup of the upper part)
