GANESHA WITH CONSORT

Bronze India , 17th century Weight: 223 grams Dimensions: 7,5 x 6 x 4 cm Ganesha the remover of obstacles with ten arms and his consort, this form is also called Mahaganapati. He is sitting on a rectangular throne with a lotus base. There are thirty-two forms of Ganesha and this is a very popular one depicting Ganesha as supreme being Paramatman. We see the mouse his vehicle to his right, a female consort on his left lap who is holding a lotus flower. In his ten hands he is holding many objects like his broken tusk, a mango or pomegranate, the dharma wheel, a discus, a mace, a noose, a lotus etc. In his trunk he is holding a small pot referring to Jambhala the God of Wealth.
