STANDING BODHISATTVA

Bronze fire-gilt Tibet or China , 17 to 18th century Weight: 721 grams Dimensions: 14 x 7 x 4 cm Standing Bodhisattva attached to a plinth, fragments missing from ankles, arms and crown. The Boddhisattva's physiognomy is very female with a slender waist and wide hips, dressed in flowy garment tied around the hip with belts and chains. The body is adorned with various jewellery, large circular ear pendants with stone inlay decorate the elongated earlobes and an originally five-pointed tiara with the hair chignon in the center on the head. The nose is slightly damaged, the expression is benevolent with a tender smile. The back of the statue shows the thin hairlines and garment's details.
