Description

JAMBHALA

Bronze Tibet , 18th century , Pala revival Weight: 440 grams Dimensions: Height 10,5 cm Wide 7,5 cm Depth 5 cm Seated Jambhala, God of Wealth, on a double reverse lotus base with beaded rim, the right foot casually resting on a prortruding flower. Three small balls of sweets are lying on the bottom as offerings. In his right hand he is holding the citrus fruit standing for wealth and fertility. Resting in his left arm is the mongoose who will spit jewels if the god squeezes its neck. The belly of Jambhala is relatively small compared to other depictions and the body is adorned with jewellery. The expression is serious with bulging eyes. The inside is hollow.
