Description
Portico clock in white and black marble, bronze ornaments. It rests on two obelisk-shaped columns decorated with trimmings, the dial is surmounted by a Medici style vase decorated with four flowers, and on the base is placed a covered pot on a pedestal. The columns are decorated with attributes. The marble base is decorated with a frieze of pearls and trimmings. The dial is in white enamel, with Arabic numerals, inscribed "Charles Bertrand, Horloger de l'Académie des Sciences, rue Montmartre à Paris", hands with fleur-de-lis. The balance wheel is finished by a sun with Apollo's face. Late 18th century, Louis XVI. Total dimensions : 56 x 38,5 x 15,5 cm ; clock 45,5 x 34 x 9,5 cm. On a wooden base. Cracks in the dial, missing glass, missing ornaments including charms and pearls, pearl frieze to be reattached, chips in the marble, accidents to the base.
