- This painting is a preparatory study for Court's painting The Death of Caesar; Mark-Antony showing the people Caesar's bloody robe presented at the 1827 Salon (no. 232) and purchased by the Musée du Luxembourg, now in the Musée d'Arras, a work on which Court has been working since 1821. The woman represented here is in the centre of the composition and is also known in the form of an engraving.
