Filippo FALCIATORE (Naples 1718 - 1768)
Self-portrait
Copper oval 17.5 x 14.5 cm
Note:
A pupil of Paolo de Matteis, Filippo Falciatore was a Neapolitan painter known for his large frescoes of Neapolitan palaces, notably Pignatelli di Monteleone and Brussano.
Our painting shows the painter coquettishly dressed in a jacket embroidered with flowers, a red overcoat holding his tricorn under his left arm.
