Red morocco binding, coat of arms of Philippe d'Orléans in the center of the covers, framed by triple gilt rules with crowned figure at the corners, five ribs on spine with title, gilt ornate crowned monograms and lily flowers in the sections, gilt roulette on the edges of the plates, gilt edges. Illustrated Frontispiece engraved by Nicolas Chateau. Copy in magnificent binding with coat of arms of Philip of Orléans, known as the Regent, 1674-1723, dedicatee of the work. The lot is sold as binding.

The sheet with the drawing has been cut out and glued onto a sheet of black pen squared support 185 x 209 mm. Collection stamp Good condition. The centerpiece is decorated with fantastic mythological figures, two mermaids surrounded by cherubs at the bottom and an imposing sphinx crouched as a lid. Similar drawings by the famous Florentine painter, pupil of Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio and collaborator of Raphael can be found at the MAK, Museum für angewandte Kunst, in Vienna.
