Description

ITALY, TUSCANY. White enamelled terracotta devotional plaque of rectangular shape, rounded at the top and framed by a frieze of ovals. Decorated in relief representing the Virgin kneeling in adoration before the Child, surmounted by two angels in prayer, a third carrying a scroll and a dove symbolizing the Holy Spirit. Attributed to the sculptor and ceramist Santi BUGLIONI, (born in 1494 in Florence, died November 27, 1576 in Florence). Second half of the 16th century 95 x 62 cm (cracks, glaze breaks, old restorations in the upper part and some later traces of gilding in the halos) A photocopy of the result of the thermoluminescence test dated September 17, 2020 is attached.
