First edition of this work by the traveller and merchant from Marseille Pierre-Augustin Guys (1721-1799) which was very successful because of its literary qualities and erudition. Voltaire considered it a classic of its kind and Raynal as the best work "out of the Province". Bindings rubbed with leather tears.
