This rare set of imperial portraits, with its magnificent translucent patina, is well identified with the stylistic models of the sixteenth century, still tied to ancient classicism, often taken as a model not only artistic but also philosophical and moral, Works with mythological and pagan subjects, portraits of illustrious men of antiquity, were used to adorn the homes and then the refined and collected "studios" of collectors, powerful and intellectuals of the sixteenth century, defining a world imbued with a profane aestheticism but also crossed by ethical reflections and historical and scientific curiosity. The four portraits, in their collected form that avoids a magniloquent, purely decorative function, seem instead to inspire an intimate and silent dialogue between past and present, heights 50 cm, 45 cm, 49.5 cm and 52.5 cm, Barberini Collection - Rome, Guido Bartolozzi Antiques - Florence, XXVI Biennale International Antiques Market Exhibition.
