Importante e rara coppia di candelabri in legno scolpito, patinato e dorato. Regno Borbonico fine XVIII secolo

Four gilded bronze flames in the guise of sea monsters supported by vestals resting on gilded wooden tritons and three sphinxes. Three-lobed base in lacquered wood in imitation marble decorated with reserves with dancing putti in embossed and gilded bronze. Non-coeval supports in ebonized wood with gilded details and iron feet, H. 202 cm, Manuel Longo, Milan, The stylistic-decorative and constructive characteristics of the furniture of Southern Italy at the end of the 18th century were strongly influenced by the Baroque tradition, and the Rococo revival was slow to be accepted. The forms were inspired by French furniture but the shapes were heavier, the gracefulness of Rococo was often transformed into opulence and wealth. In Sicily, the carved wooden furniture was often gilded, the lacquer decoration was widespread, the ornamentation was mostly entrusted to the repertoire of fauna and flora combined with gilding.
