Description

Seoul 1988. Florence Griffith-Joyner, 200m © André Lecoq/L'Équipe September 29, 1988. "Like a rocket", was the headline in "L'Équipe" the day after the 200m that Florence Griffith-Joyner had just won in an extra-terrestrial time: 20''34, a world record. The American sprinter, who became a bank clerk after winning a silver medal in the 200m in 1984, got out her fluorescent bodysuits, repainted her nails and reappeared on the track like a superheroine with a super-muscle. In 1988, "Flo-Jo" broke two world records (100m, 200m), won four Olympic medals (gold in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m; silver in the 4x400m)... then announced her retirement. Ten years later, the champion died suddenly, aged 38. The rocket was a meteor, a star forever mysterious. Unique later print. Edition 1/1. Printed on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta Satin 300g paper. Flamant art frame. 53 X 80 cm
