Moscow 1980. Steve Ovett, Jürgen Straub, Sebastian Coe, 1500m © André Lecoq/L'Équipe 1 August 1980. Sebastian Coe forgot his British phlegm for a moment of pure emotion. Five days earlier, he had lost the 800m, which had been promised to him, to his compatriot Steve Ovett, with whom he had reigned for two years on the world middle distance. This time, Coe was not concerned with the pace of the race but with getting into a good position before the final stretch. And that's where his speed makes the difference. In 1984, the Londoner became - and remains - the first person to retain an Olympic title in the 1500m. Lord Coe became a peer of the realm, a baron, and in 2012 he will chair the organising committee of the Olympic Games in his city. His latest victory? A unanimous re-election, in 2019, to the presidency of the International Athletics Federation. Noblesse oblige. Single later print. Edition 1/1. Printed on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta Satin 300g paper. Flamant art frame. 40x60
