Description

Mexico City 1968. Colette Besson, 400m © André Lecoq/L'Équipe October 16, 1968. "The important thing is not to lose my head and not to be considered before or after as a big star. I want to continue on my path in sport and in life." Such is Colette Besson, who has just overtaken five competitors one by one, including the arch-favourite Lilian Board, to win the 400m. At the end of this final straight line, the 22-year-old gym teacher from Charente made history and entered the hearts of the French. Committed to the fight against doping, the woman who also wanted to "contribute to a greater diffusion of women's sport" saw Marie-José Pérec finally succeed her in 1992. She died in 2005 at the age of 59. Much better than a "great star", Co-let Besson had become an example. Single later edition. Edition 1/1. Black and white piezographic print on Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta Satin 300g paper. Flamant art frame. 40 x 40 cm
