Historical collection containing various curious pieces of this time. Cologne, Christophre Van Dyck, 1666. Small in-12 of [2] ff.-350 pp. Contemporary ivory vellum, handwritten title on the back. First edition of this collection of 8 pieces, most of which concern relations with the Sublime Porte, including the important ""Discours des assurés moyens d'anéantir la Monarchie des Princes Ottomans"" by Savary de Brèves. We will also remember the report of the "sad" expedition of Gigery (Djidjelli, Jijel in Algeria) in 1664 where Louis de Castellan intervened to destroy the French fort and re-embark the troops. This failed "occupation" ended with the sinking of the ship La Lune off the coast of Toulon, killing some 700 men... from the Royal-Picardy regiment. Castellan was killed in 1669 at the siege of Candia against the Turks. Contains : I. Project for the enterprise of Algiers. II. Relation of the voyages made in Thunis by the Sieur de Bricard. III.
