Λόγοι γ. Orationes III panegyricæ. La Flèche, Jacques Rezé, 1614. In-8, fawn basane, gilt roulette and double fillets framing, important decoration composed of spandrels and a large rhombus with gilt small irons, oval medallion in reserve in the center, smooth mute spine decorated in the same way, gilt edges (Binding of the time). Rare publication by La Flèche giving in princeps edition the first two panegyrics, relating to the emperor Constance II and the empress Eusebia. This is the first edition published by Denis Petau of these three eulogies composed by the emperor Julian (331-363), known as the Apostate because he tried to re-establish polytheism in the Roman Empire. It joins the Greek text with its Latin translation with an important set of notes. Jacques Rezé was the printer of the king and of the Jesuit college in La Flèche. Elegant period binding decorated with small irons. Handwritten bookplate on the title: Dulac 1873. Hinges cracked, minor spotting and corners a little dull, some foxing.
