The Jesuit Antoine Girard (1604-1679) dedicated this history of French military victories to the Grand Condé, the victor of Rocroi in 1643.
The illustration, engraved in intaglio by Nicolas Cochin, includes a title-frontispiece and 10 folded plates representing the battles of Rocroi, Tolbiac, Soissons, Narbonne, Fontenoy, Bouvines, Mansourah, Furnes, Cassel, Patay and Fornoue.
18th century annotation in the margin of the frontispiece.
Body of the book partially unbound, 2 endpapers detached, small gap filled in frontispiece, hole in title finial, scattered stains.
