[FÉLIBIEN (André). Paintings from the King's Cabinet. First part. Paris, Royal Printing Office, 1679. - [FÉLIBIEN (André)]. Description of the cave of Versailles. Ibid. 1672-1689]. 3 parts in one large folio volume, fawn calf, triple gilt fillet, havana title and gilt edges (Binding of the period). Important collection of 85 plates from the King's Cabinet, including 29 double-page plates, engraved in intaglio by Jean Le Pautre, Israël Silvestre, Gérard Edelinck, François Chauveau and others. I. Tableaux du Cabinet du roy Superb collection, one of the most precious of this collection, according to Brunet. First published in 1677, with 22 plates, it was then enriched to a maximum of 38 plates. This one contains 37 plates, including 16 double-page ones, engraved in intaglio by Edelinck, Rousselet, Audran and others after works by Raphael, Correggio, Titian, Van Dyck, Poussin, etc., kept in the royal collections. The Holy Family engraved by Edelinck after Raphael is in third state, with the arms of the Abbé Colbert, and the Supper at Emmaus - the famous "Nappe de Masson", after Titian, quoted by Brunet - in very good condition. Missing the Martyrdom of Saint Stephen engraved by Baudet after Carracci. II. Description of the cave of Versailles First edition, decorated with 20 splendid plates, engraved for the most part by Le Pautre, but also Edelinck, Chauveau and others, including a plan and 2 double page plates. The grotto of Téthys, built in 1666 on the north side of the castle of Versailles, was demolished in 1684. A second proof, flying, of the Statue of Galatea by Edelinck is enclosed. III. Views of the Palace, Gardens, Fountains and Statues of Versailles On a relié en fin de volume 28 planches extraites de cette suite (qui en compte 78, sans texte imprimé), à savoir : 7 pl. à double page de fontaines et bosquets gravées par Israël Silvestre (4) et Le Pautre (3), 1677-1684 ; 2 pl. double for the baths of Apollo and the water theatre engraved by Simonneau le Jeune after Cotelle, 1688-1689; 1 double pl. for the Fountain of Apollo engraved by L. de Chastillon, 1683; 18 single pl. of bronze sculptures, fountains and basins engraved by Le Pautre, 1672-1679. From the library of Henri Grosseuvre (1865-1934), a collection almost entirely devoted to Versailles, with bookplate. Binding restored, spine rebacked (original title-pieces and goblets reapplied).
