MOUDARRES (Fateh). "Composition" (1960). Oil on paper, pasted on panel, dated and signed on the lower right corner. Size of the support: 79 x 56.5 cm; subject: 70 x 50 cm. Fateh Moudarres (1922-1999) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome (1954-1960), where he was strongly influenced by surrealism, before returning to Syria. He then abandoned traditional painting techniques and returned to a technique derived from Syrian primitive arts. He is considered to this day as one of the greatest contemporary Syrian painters.
