BERNARDO LORENTE GERMÁN (Sevilla, 1680 - 1759)
The Good Shepherd Oil on canvas 63 x 51 cm Signed and dated "Gª Lorente F / 1698". _x000D_. _x000D_. According to the date in which Lorente Germán signs this painting, it must be a work of his youth, made during the beginning of his career. Its extraordinary quality makes it clear that he was one of the best followers of Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. Not surprisingly, the work presented here follows the original model made in 1665 by the Sevillian genius, preserved in the George Lane collection in Ashton Wold, (Peterborough, United Kingdom).
