Nasa. Rare view of the first "HOP" of the X-3 aircraft. The X-3 Stiletto was an experimental single-engine jet aircraft manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company. The Douglas X-3 Stiletto was the most elegant of the early experimental aircraft. A pair of X-3s was approved for construction on June 30, 1949.
