Nasa. Robert Goddard stands next to his liquid fuel rocket on March 16, 1926. It took 17 years of patient work for Robert Goddard to single-handedly develop a rocket that mixed liquid fuel and oxygen. Robert Goddard's work was the subject of no less than 200 patents. He was a visionary ahead of his time, which earned him the irony of many of his contemporaries who did not realize the relevance and importance of his work. 1926. posterior chromogenic print.
