To penetrate the image, one would have to lift the sails one after the other, in search of what would be hidden at the back. Nothing is explicit, everything is suggested. Different textures are superimposed: traces of white paint, red fabric that evokes waves, gold background. Between these layers, other elements are inserted: ikebana, Japanese text (of which we have only an extract that is lost in the blur) and other shadows that add their enigmatic character to this Japanese symphony. Thanks to the technique of "subligraphy", the motifs that make up the image create together a vaporous and bewitching substance.
