MARX (Groucho). Letter signed "Your loving Groucho," in English, to his wife Ruth Johnson, and their children Arthur and Miriam. New York, n.d. One p. typewritten folio, printed letterhead "Hotel Élysée". ON A PROPOSED RADIO SERIES BY THE MARX BROTHERS. Probably Flywheel, Shyster, and Flywheel, a comedy program financed by American oil companies, with 13 episodes broadcast from November 28, 1932 to January 13, 1933, on the National Broadcasting Company's Blue Network. A DROLATIC DESCRIPTION OF THE NEW YORK WINTER follows. " ... Well, fortunately it passed along smoothly, and everyone felt satisfied that we had a successful try-out. There is no need to tell you what kind of weather we have been having lately... It was gratifying to realize that my time in Hollywood hadn't softened me up to such a degree that I wouldn't be able to withstand the cold. I came through like a little man, summer underwear and all, and I now know that no frigid weather can ever frighten me again. The river s a frozen over, I am frozen under, but by keeping the windows closed, the heat on, a hot water bottle in bed, and plenty of copious draughts of Hennessy Brandy, the blood is still coursing through my veins...
