KINGDOM OF SYRIA: Seleucus I (323-280 BC) Golden statere. Seleucia of the Tigris (c. 300 B.C.). 8,56 g. Head of Athena right, wearing a Corinthian helmet with triple aigrette, decorated with a snake. R/ Niké standing left, draped, holding a crown in her right hand and a stylus in her left. Monogram within wreath in field on left and K on right. Newell ESM 10, pl. III/7 this copy. HGC. 9/4d.
