LÉVÊQUE (Jean-Jacques).

Stele for Adam de la Halle. Anduze, Édition du Castel Rose, 1962. Large square in-4, half black morocco, wooden boards painted in red, yellow and blue and carved with an abstract motif in black, two medallions of lenticular images are inlaid in each of the two boards, two of which represent a woman's wink and the other two cogs or small animated characters, on the upper board the names of the authors as well as a quotation from the work are painted in blue, smooth spine decorated with the title cold-stamped in pink, red and black glossy paper lining and endpapers, untrimmed, cover and spine, balsa covered cardboard slipcase (Lobstein - Bertini 86). First edition of this work entirely screen printed by Gianni Bertini. Unique copy having served as a model for the artists in the elaboration of their work. Edition at 221 copies, this one not numbered on grey wrapping paper, justified "maquette" and signed by Bertini. Enriched copy: - of two ink drawings from an evening between artists, including the author and the artist, in Anduze during the summer of 1962, - an original drawing for the gilding projects of the spine of the binding, - an original drawing in Indian ink annotated by Bertini presenting the model and explaining the conception of the binding, - an original pencil sketch by Bertini (25 x 24 cm) of a diagram used to produce the binding, which repeats a drawing from the book, - an original watercolour (25 x 24 cm) used as a model for the colours of the binding. Amazing original binding designed by Bertini and realized by Lobstein.
