New version with six original etchings and burin engravings by Hans Bellmer for whom this is the first book illustrated with original engravings. Second edition of this superb first book by Georges Bataille, an exploration of the universe of erotic madness, published by Alain Gheerbrant, Bernard Amouroux, Henri Parisot and Simone Lamblin in July 1947. The changes in this "new" edition, known as the Seville edition, are so important that one can speak of a rewriting of the text. There is an approximate manuscript in Bataille's handwriting. The latest modifications to this manuscript were made in part by his editor Alain Gheerbrant and not by Bataille, who nevertheless gave his approval. From the Jean Belias library. Pia, 630.
