Property from an Important Private Collection Hafez (d.1390), Diwan, Safavid Persia, 17th century, Persian manuscript on paper, 187 leaves plus 3 fly-leaves, between 12 and 17 lines to the page written in black nasta’liq, partly within 2 columns, ruled in gold and black, titles in red, the opening page with a gold and polychrome heading and the text within clouds against a gold ground, in a brown leather binding with a gilt central panel decorated with a bucolic scene, text panel 14 by 7cm.; leaf 19.5 by 12.5cm. Provenance: Christie’s London, 26 October 2007, lot 312. Condition report: In overall good condition, remargined in later period, probably Qajar, minor stains and rubbing, as viewed.
