Property from an Important Private Collection Maktabi Shirazi (d.1510 circa) Kitab Layla w Majnun, signed al-‘Abd al-Mudir Muhammad, Safavid Persia, dated Jumada I 1066 AH/ February 1656 AD, Persian manuscript on paper, the text panel with gold sprinkle, 66 leaves plus 3 fly-leaves, 14 lines to the page, written in black nasta’liq, within 2 columns, ruled in black, gold and blue, titles in gold outlined in black, f.1b with gold and polychrome heading and densely gold foliated margins, in later brown leather binding with central stamped medallion, with flap, text panel 8.5 x 3.4; leaf 12.3 x 5cm. Condition report: in good condition, minor losses to the illumination, minor stains and rubbing, possibly incomplete, as viewed.
