1941. Indochine binder, illustrated weekly. Years 1941, 1942, 1943 and 1944 A set of 8 leather bindings, spine ribbed, size : 27x18,5 cm. Very good condition. - Year 1941 (First and Second Semester) : two volumes. - Year 1942 (First and Second Semester) : two volumes. - Year 1943 (First and Second Semester) : two volumes. - Year 1944 (First and Second Semester): two volumes. Not collated in full but appear complete. A few non-continuous issues of the year 1940 were added at the beginning of the binding of the first half of 1941. A few non-continuous issues of 1945 were added at the end of the binding of the second half of 1944 (last issue 25 February 1945). This magazine, very richly illustrated, was published in Hanoi by the printing house Taupin et Cie. Circulated during the Japanese occupation of Indochina, this weekly was politically favourable to Admiral Decoux and the Vichy government, allied with Japan. It is a rare source of information on Indochina, a colony in the Far East, which was cut off from all sea and air communications with France between May 1941 and October 1945. The articles deal with all subjects, social, ethnological, historical, artistic and cultural: many covers are illustrated by the students of the Indochina School of Fine Arts. With the famous n°132 of 1943, dedicated to Joseph Inguimberty. Emperor Bao Dai and Empress Nam Phuong were the subject of numerous articles and covers. With a very important issue on "Les Maîtres Laqueurs de Hanoï", illustrated by the works of Pham Hau and the students of the Beaux-Arts. Another article on the art of lacquerware. An illustrated page on Nguyen Huyen, articles on Bao Dai, Nam Phuong and the imperial family. Many illustrations by Manh Quynh, Henri Mège, To Ngoc Van, etc...
