H: 122 x W: 53.5 cm THE ARTIST Shi Jiechen (1925-2006), born in Xinjiang, exhibited for the first time in Wulumqi in 1986, turns his calligraphies into paintings. A comparable work by the artist is held in the Collection of the Nationaal Museum van Wereldculturen (7031-3).

Panel on fabric glued to cardboard support entirely covered with black ink inscriptions, decorated with words calling upon God to bless Mohammad and his family, themselves inscribed inside. The inscriptions stand out against a background of small flowers and are embellished with figures and angels. Signed Muhammad Hasan ibn Haji Khudadad Khan Na'ib-i Ishi[k]. Bears a signature of Muhammad Hasan ibn Khudadad and a possibly apocryphal date, Rabi' al-awwal 1234 H./ 1818-19. 34.5 x 22 cm
