Elytra in round frame with backlit H. 36 5/8 in - D. 20 1/16 in A convex shape made of Jewel beetles shields (elytra) from Thaïland -Sternocera Aequisignata- Two E27 light bulbs sheds their light upon the wall. This wood-boring beetle can be found through Thailand, Myanmar up to India. It was common in some of the ancient refined cultures of Burma and Thailand to attach beetle wings pieces as an adornment to textiles and jewelry. Their Life span as adults is short (around 3 weeks), they are focused on a fast reproduction, and the collectors catch do not have a significant impact on their numbers, so far. In decorating the Belgium Royal Palace artist Jan Fabre used over one and a half million elytra to cover a ceiling.
