Description

[Europe] A lottery ticket by Jules Verne. Illustrations by George Roux. Paris, Bibliothèque d'Éducation et de Récréation, J. Hetzel et Cie Éditeurs, 1886 (ca. 1890 for the hardback). Large single in-8°. Special "Eiffel Tower" binding of Sanard, Derangeon & Cie (Paris, Bruxelles, Genève) in full red long-grained cloth. Pale green endpapers. Gilt edges. Printed by Gauthier-Villars. On the first endpaper, ex-dono dated 1890. Spine gilt, as always. Some foxing. Otherwise, a very good copy. Let us recall that the editions Sanard, Derangeon & Cie were salesmen and proposed this particular cardboard exclusively made for single volumes. Like Hetzel before, they used different colours: red, green and blue.
