Publisher's full percaline polychrome boards "with printed portrait". Lenègre Binder. Gilt edges. Blue endpapers. Printed by Gauthier-Villars. Catalogue "FX" for 1891-1892. Spine slightly faded. Otherwise, a very fine, slim copy with a "two elephants" interior. Let us underline the surprising particularity of this copy: if the golds of the "printed portrait", at the bottom of the spine, are always predominantly black, it is not the case here. They are indeed stamped on the red of the cloth and are identical to those of the "glued portrait". We had noticed this curiosity (after having written the catalogue) for the copy of 20 000 leagues under the sea of our first sale (n°73). It is undoubtedly intermediate cartonnages...
