Both were derived from the 308, from which they took most of the components, but with an updated design and engine. The 328 was produced in two versions, the GTB and GTS. The first was a coupe version, the second was a Targa type car, i.e. with a removable central roof. The 308's rather hard and angular lines were softened by the great Pininfarina, who subjected the Ferrari 328 to a series of small but important aerodynamic updates. The front and rear volumes were more curved, and both bumpers were body-coloured. The front light clusters and radiator were reminiscent of the Ferrari Mondial 3.2, the model with which it shared the restyling project. In this way Ferrari wanted to communicate a sort of family-feeling, transmitting a homogeneous brand image. The front bonnet was very clean and elegant, also thanks to the removal of the air intakes positioned behind the pop-up headlights and the central air intake in the same colour as the bodywork. The interior of the Ferrari 328 was also almost completely updated. The upholstery, as well as the interior door panels and the door handles, still had the essential, elegant aesthetics typical of Ferrari style, although the design and positioning of the controls had been modified. The car was equipped with a wide range of optional extras such as metallic paint, leather upholstery on the dashboard and doors, air conditioning and Pirelli P7 tyres. The engine was a naturally aspirated V8 with a displacement that was increased to 3185cc and was transversally mounted in a block with a 5-speed transmission, all synchronized. The US market was extremely enthusiastic about it, not only because it was the heir to the legendary 308 driven by Magnum PI, but also and above all because it could be found in the film Beverly Hills Cop 2 driven by Eddy Murphy. The magnificent example we are offering at auction was first registered in the USA in 1987. The car has been fully restored about 15 years ago, today is presented in a wonderful Rosso Corsa (300/6), original and preserved black leather interior (easily seen by the signs of wear visible on the side of the driver's side), inside there is also the steering wheel covered with leather also original and preserved. The engine has been completely overhauled in both electrical and mechanical components and now sounds like a violin. The car is equipped with all its original documentation (coupon booklets and use and maintenance etc...) This car is part of a beautiful collection of cars belonging to an Italian-American gentleman and it will be auctioned at Milano AutoClassica 2021 in extraordinary condition.
