Compared by many to the renowned R 50 S and R 69 S, the R90 S combined the pleasure of a true grand tourer with the sportiness of a thoroughbred superbike. Designed by Hans Muth (who would later go on to design the legendary Suzuki Katana) and distinguished by two unique colours, the R90 S was an epoch-making bike: exclusive, fast and above all reliable, it was one of the protagonists of the Maxi era of the 1970s. The bike, offered for the first time at auction, has been part of the collection of a Roman enthusiast for several years. The BMW R 90 S was to all intents and purposes a revolutionary motorbike for the House of the Helix as it combined the concept of touring and sports motorbikes in a single vehicle.
