TROZZELLA

TROZZELLA DATE: end of V century B.C. C. MATERIAL AND TECHNIQUE: pinkish clay, chamois mottling, brown and paonazza varnish, modelled by fast lathe. Slightly everted rim, with rounded lip, distinct truncated cone neck, ovoid body elongated downwards, disc foot; high ribbon handles, surmounted, characterized by circular wheel decorations, set on the lip and shoulder. ADDITIONAL DECORATION: the lip is painted, also internally, in brownish colour, as well as the foot and the profiles of the handles and of the wheels; the lower part of the body is decorated with alternating fillets in brown and brownish colour; the wheels have a reticulated motif and the outside of the handles is decorated with bands of parallel lines in brown. DECORATION: the entire surface of the vase is covered with a geometric metopal decoration with opposing triangles and rhombuses with a reticulated field framed by brown bands.
