CHIBISSOV, K.V. [Signed ]Documents on the History of the Invention of Photography. Academy of Sciences, Moscow, 1949. 4 pages (26 x 18 cm) . Original bilingual French-Russian edition, dedicated and signed by Chibissov to L.P. Clerc. 510 pp. Introduction of 56 pages in Russian, followed by 168 unpublished letters and documents in French with translation into Russian. These correspondences, mostly unpublished, cover the period from 1787 to 1841. They are all addressed to Niépce in Chalon-sur-Saône. These documents are of great historical and scientific interest in the history of the discovery of photography. This book presents in particular the correspondence between Daguerre and Niépce, unknown before the publication of this work. Attached to the book is a typed letter in Russian from Tchibissov to L.P. Clerc (with its typed translation in French), as well as the handwritten draft of L.P. Clerc's reply to Tchibissov. Provenance: L.P. Clerc collection, then J.P. Sudre (stamp + label).
