Half ivory long-grained morocco with small corners (Noulhac, bottom of spine). Smooth spine decorated with gilt thread and roll, black mosaic pastilles stamped with a gilt flower. Black chagrin title-piece. Gilt thread on the boards. 1st plate of the 12th delivery cover cons. Posterior lined slipcase. Charming miniature edition, illustrated with a coloured frontispiece printed on China paper, a portrait of the author and 12 woodcut vignettes (10 for Paul et Virginie and 2 for La Chaumière indienne). Each ht is protected by a captioned serpente in gothic characters; the text is decorated with frames and woodcut vignettes. In fine, the illustrated publisher's prospectus is bound in. A very nice copy, nicely bound by Noulhac, of this so-called "little sister" edition as opposed to the 1838 edition (Carteret, p.548 - Vicaire 7, p. 69)
