Gilt medallion framed by a decoration of cold scrolls on the boards. T. gilt. Work preceded by a biographical note by the bibliophile Jacob (Paul Lacroix) and illustrated with 14 portraits of heroines of the "Comédie humaine" after drawings by G. Staal. Copy not free from foxing in a well preserved full contemporary binding. Attached : BIBLIOPHILE JACOB [LACROIX Paul], Galerie des femmes de George Sand, Paris, Aubert et cie, 1843. Large in-8°. Publisher's full blue percaline boards. Spine and covers decorated with important gilt and cold decorations as well as multicoloured decorations in the romantic style. Work illustrated with 24 figures ht finely engraved on steel after Charpentier, Giraldon, etc. Some ht figures foxed as always and headpieces sagging otherwise a fine copy. Set of 2 volumes.
