RICHARD GUINO (1890-1973) "NUDE AT THE BOUQUET" LEAD MINE SBD MONOGRAMMED IN RED LOW LINE WITHOUT FRAME 31,5X48,5 Richard GUINO, who worked with Aristide MAILLOL, was "Auguste Renoir's hands" from 1913 to 1918, when the latter, handicapped by deforming rheumatic fever, could not sculpt. Thanks to their friendship and intense community of vision, to the transposition of techniques carried out by GUINO, the spirit of RENOIR's painting was reflected in GUINO's sculptures, a proven transmutation between two artists. At Les Collettes, in Auguste RENOIR's property in Cagnes sur mer, Richard GUINO's room was adjacent to the Master's. It is said of GUINO "that it can be affirmed with certainty that if he had not been there, RENOIR's sculptures would not have seen the light of day, GUINO was indispensable". After Renoir's death in 1919, Richard Guino continued his work as a sculptor, decorator, ceramist, draughtsman and painter, taking part in numerous exhibitions and salons.
