In-4, [8] f., 471p., contemporary granite brown calf, spine with 5 nerves, gilt title, ornamented caissons, red speckled edges (binding rubbed, corners dulled, epidermures to the boards, tail cap damaged, int. hinge loose; worm stain in the foot margins, negligible). First edition dedicated to Fouquet, of this curious work, precursor of physiognomy. According to Caillet, it deals with "man, movements of the soul, inclinations, spirits, natural virtues and vices, astrological signs, palmistry". A copy with large margins. Provenance: Labiche, notary, Eure-et-Loir, 19th c. (postal address stamped on the upper cover). (Caillet 2729).
