Major novel by Thomas Mann, this work subtitled The life of the German composer Adrian Leverkühn told by a friend is presented as the biography of a prodigious musician of the beginning of the 20th century, fictitious creator of dodecaphony, whose existence revives the myth of Faust and his Mephistophelian pact, while in parallel German society is rushing towards irrational nihilism and the catastrophic destiny that will be the advent of Nazism.
