JOUVE (Pierre Jean).
Paulina 1880. Paris, Éditions de la NRF, 1925. Small in-4, paperback. First edition.
One of the 109 first copies reprinted on vergé pur fil, this one of the 100 reserved for the Bibliophiles de la NRF.
This is a nominative copy of André Lefèvre (1869-1929), deputy of Bouches-du-Rhône from 1910 to 1924.
Rilke evokes, in a letter to Baladine Klossowska, this book that Jouve offered him: "it is called Paulina 1880 and seems to me to be written in a remarkable way. Very short, rapid chapters, astonishingly plastic, like images seen in a stereoscope; while reading it, one collaborates, it takes place in Italy, all the senses of the reader are in action, even the sense of smell.
